Prayer n Praise

Prayer~

We are going to the US Embassy this week to apply for Ruth's SSN, passport, and US consular report of birth abroad. Please pray for all this to come back in a timely manner. We need her SSN to be able to file our taxes.

Ruth is constipated. She's not sleeping well or eating well. Please pray for her little tummy to get back to normal.

Praise~

We got Ruth's birth certificate back in the 2 weeks it was supposed to take!

We had rain on Saturday and Sunday!

Isaiah Hurd came home from the hospital last week and is feeling much better!

Nathan and I had some time alone Saturday morning. It was a fun time together!

FREE?!? Are you sure??

Check out my new spare tire cover that I got today. Pretty neat, huh? And it ACTUALLY was free!! How in the world is that, you may ask. You live in Kenya, where nothing is free, you may say. Well, apparently something is free. Nairobi Java House really does give away these for free to aid in advertisement for their chain of restaurants. Paul at church told me about it last Sunday, so I had it in my mind that I would ask the next time we were around a Java House. Today Candace and I went over to Toi Market, so we stopped at the JH at Adam's Arcade, but they didn't have any and told me to go to the JH at Junction. So I did and sure enough, they had one; what's even more amazing, it's actually the size that fits the bigger tires like are on the Patrol. Amazing! Oh, it's very mzungu (white person) to have a JH spare tire cover, but I like it anyway. And I know both my dad and dad-in-law both like JH's coffee, so it's fun.

Homemade Laundry Detergent

Homemade Laundry Detergent

What you need:
1 bar soap
laundry starch
5 gallon bucket

Pour 4 cups water in saucepan and put on high heat. Slowly add shaved bar of soap. Keep head just below boiling. Stir in soap. Water should be super soapy by now. Put 3 gallons of hot water into 5 gallon bucket. Mix soapy water and hot water then 1 cup laundry starch. Make sure you stir it REALLY well- otherwise it won't be the right consistency. Let it sit overnight. It will be nice and slimey in the morning and ready to use! (It's more of a slimey chunky....so you can mix it again with the spoon to make it JUST slimey.)

Happy washing! This is so ultra cheap. I'm guessing you spend about 50 cents per batch!!

This is the recipe some of you had requested a while back for Lindy's Homemade Laundry Detergent. I think I might have to buy the stuff to make it tomorrow! Detergent is so high here.

Happy 6 Month Birthday, Ruth!

Today is your 6 month birthday, sweet little Ruth! You are such a happy baby and so much fun to be around. You are beginning to enjoy playing with your big sister and brother and they in turn are having so much fun with you. You have been sitting up for a month now and only fall over every once in a while. You're sleeping in your own room and have been sleeping all night until the past couple mornings when you've woken Daddy up around 5am. You are taking 6-7oz of milk every 3-3.5 hours. What a big little girl you are! We've not weighed you lately, but you sure do fit in with the chubby African babies pretty well! You'll start getting some cereal pretty soon when Mommy finds the time to make some for you. You're wearing mostly 6 month clothes, but they are getting snug. It won't be long before we are pulling out the 9 month clothes. You are such a precious baby. Smiling all the time and hardly ever crying. We love how you fit perfectly into our little family. You have the cutest little laugh. You love to laugh at John when he jumps. You're little bit of hair is starting to grow the tiniest little bit. It looks like it might be blonde like John's and it might even have a hint of red. You're blue eyes are still blue, and we are hoping they stay that way. You've grown so much in these 6 months. It's hard to believe it's already been 6 months! You are such a sweet little lady!

We are thanking God for you today, little Ruth! We love and cherish you so much!

Tool Time

Dinah pulled the toolbox out this morning and so I sat Ruth in the floor to play with her and of course John came to play with his tools. They were so cute sitting there playing together I just had to get some pictures of them being such wonderful children. :)

Prayer n Praise

Prayer~

We've just learned that our new neighbors, the Hurds, have had to put their 3 yr. old little boy in the hospital for tummy troubles and dehydration. Please pray for a quick healing for little Isaiah.

Please remember Sylvia as she is nearing the end of her pregnancy. They are so excited about their precious baby.

There was a fire in Kibera last week that destroyed 200 homes. Please pray for these families.

Nathan and I haven't been sleeping very well the past couple of weeks.

Nathan seems to have gotten the headaches I was having.

Praise~

Ruth will be six months old tomorrow. We are so thankful for such a sweet, wonderful little girl.

John is saying more words every day. It's so much fun to see him learning new things. Although he likes to yell "Maa" or "Daa" to get Nathan or mine's attention.

Workin' Hard

Saturday afternoon Nathan was working on putting some new headlights in the truck. John woke up from his nap so Nathan took him outside to help him. John had a blast helping Daddy! Then he saw Nathan lay under the truck to look at something so he decided he needed to check on something, too. Isn't it amazing how close they watch us?

Dirt Dobbers

I told you they LOVE to play in the dirt. They've now converted the water table to a dirt table. I think they would have all their toys out there in the dirt if I would let them. They've got dirt all over the place outside...in the wagon, on the porch, in the table. It's EVERYWHERE! But they're having fun and enjoying playing together. :)
