Out and About

We took the camera to church with us yesterday to get a family photo. So, I had the camera in the car and took some photos along the way.

The back of this truck says, "hang at your own risk." Anyone want to jump on for a ride?
Anyone need some chumz to furnish your new digs?? Billboards here are hilarious!
This is just a photo of Ngong Road. This is just about where we had our accident with the matatu last weekend. Ngong Road is a main road on our side of town. We go down it to get to just about all the stores we go to on this side of town.
For those of you who asked...these are matatus. It's a 14 passenger public transportation van. They are known for being bad drivers and doing just about anything to get ahead of everyone else. They will often pack more than 14 passengers in, too. We took transportation lessons when we first got here and rode on a few of them, but haven't gotten on one since.
Orange is a cell phone service provider here. This building used to be beige and in the past month, it has been painted orange and black. Very bright.
This is a huge billboard we pass on the way to church. The picture doesn't do it justice. It's REALLY big!
On one section of Ngong Road, there are a bunch of "shops" that make all kinds of furniture, metal things, pretty much whatever you are looking for. This is a shop that sells metal things.
Here you can see a lot of wooden things that are for sell. Sorry for the haziness of the pictures. It was really hazy yesterday morning.

See the guy pushing the cart? Those are everywhere here. Whether they are transporting water, furniture, vegetables, they push these carts right on the road with the traffic. Kind of crazy how daring they are with the way people drive here.

Club Texas. We think of Uncle Wes and Uncle NayNay every time we drive past. And we finally got a picture!

And finally, the reason we had the camera in the car. A family picture. Although it's not the best since none of the kids are smiling. :) We'll have to try again.

Alright. Maybe you can get a better picture of where we live. I know it looks totally different to the outsider than it does to us. We've grown accustomed to it all and enjoy it!
