Adoption Update

Sorry for not posting updates on the adoption process the past couple of weeks. There's really not been anything to update you on until today.

We met with our social worker who wrote our home study this morning. He had to make some corrections and update it with our new home information. That portion should be complete soon. We are waiting on a letter coming from CWA in the US so we can head over to the USCIS office at the Embassy and hopefully get our paperwork underway to get approval to bring an orphan to the US. Wow, it's all so confusing. There are so many hoops you have to jump through to adopt, but we know it will all be worth it in the end.

If anyone is interested, this is where we are:

We are 6 months into a 6-9 month (that is what the estimated wait was when we applied with CWA) wait for a referral (a child to be chosen for our family). However, it seems baby boys are quite popular now. We submitted our dossier (all our legal documents and approval to adopt a child) to Ethiopia in March of 2010. Right now, CWA is working on cases of people who submitted their papers in August of 2009. That means a referral is taking over a year not the 6-9 months that we originally expected. We are totally okay with that. We know God is control. If we were looking at a 6 month wait, we wouldn't be ready because we don't have that approval I was talking about above. These past 6 months have passed so quickly. And we're praying the next 6 pass even faster as the Lord is preparing our hearts, our minds, our bodies, our children, and our Ethiopian son to be ready for him. Ready for the late nights, early mornings, challenges, hugs and kisses, disagreements, good times, and hard times. Please make us ready, Lord.
