We decided to try to go the cheapest route we could while still having a comfortable accommodation. We were also scoping out the situation since we will be taking our whole family when we go pick up Ezra. We had a great time at the Addis Kidan! It was in a nice area that wasn't very busy, it was safe, there several places we could to walk to get something to eat, and a taxi stop wasn't far away.
This is the front of the house. The room we stayed in was the door and windows on the left.
Here is the dining room and living room. The computer we were able to use for internet was right by the phone. It was interesting to see a landline phone since hardly anyone in Kenya has one. And they used it, too!
This is just another shot of the living area. It's always fun to meet new people at guesthouses. We met 3 ladies who live in Saudi Arabia, and they were great fun! We ate with them a couple time, and then went shopping with one of them one day. There was also a girl who had been there since August doing research on a Fulbright Scholarship and she was pretty much fluent in Amharic. She was a wealth of knowledge!
One view of the kitchen.
Another view. We didn't use the kitchen a whole lot because we were out a lot of the time. Next time when we have all the kids though, it will be useful to be able to fix food for them here. We can also order breakfast and dinner which we will probably do for some meals.
The back of the house.
We enjoyed sitting on the porch and reading. It was quite comfortable and breezy. A nice place to relax and read a little.
Our bedroom. Please excuse the funny look on my face. And the sugar wafer cookie in my hand. We snuck in a few things we don't normally get since we didn't have the kids with us....like a fresh donut for breakfast 3 mornings. :)
And our bathroom. Somehow we ended up with the only private bathroom in the whole house. We felt privileged. Although, if you happen to stay here, be sure you ask where to turn the pump on before you take a shower! We had a couple shower with almost no water pressure until we figured out they forgot to tell us about the pump! :)
We really had a blast staying there and are hoping to stay there again when we go again. We felt really safe, had everything we could have asked for, and enjoyed the company.
