Biscuits Supreme

In almost 9 years of marriage, I've never tried to make homemade biscuits. I think I was kind of intimidated because my Mom always made a.m.a.z.i.n.g biscuits, and I guess I didn't think I could ever make biscuits as good as hers. So I just didn't try. Well, tonight Nathan was looking through the pantry to see what we could make for dinner. He found a couple packets of gravy mix and immediately had a craving for biscuits and gravy. So, being the good wifey that I am, I got up and found an easy recipe for drop biscuits and gave it a try. And what do you know!? They turned out great! :) And my hubby enjoyed his biscuits, gravy, and scrambled eggs.

Biscuits Supreme

3 c. all purpose flour
1 T. baking powder
1 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp cream of tartar
3/4 c. butter or 1/2 c. butter and 1/4 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. milk

Preheat oven to 450. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar. Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add milk all at once. Using a fork, stir just until mixture is moistened. Using a large spoon, drop dough into 12 mounds onto a greased baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes or until golden. Remove biscuits from baking sheet and serve warm.
